Microsoft 365 Modernization
Improve the systems people already depend on with a phased plan for redesign, implementation, transition and long-term ownership.
The engagement
Replace the workaround without losing the work.
Modernization is not a requirement to replace everything. It is a decision about what to retain, simplify, rebuild or retire. W.I.S.E. helps connect that decision to the operational process, the data that must remain reliable and the people who will own the result.
Separate the symptom from the structure
A slow form, an unreliable board or a spreadsheet that no longer scales can have different underlying causes. Discovery should determine whether the problem is presentation, data design, access, automation or an unsupported dependency.
This avoids rebuilding a screen while carrying the same process problem into a new platform. A targeted improvement may be the right answer when the underlying model is still sound.
Design the transition, not only the destination
A defined scope can include current-state assessment, future-state design, a phased implementation backlog and transition considerations. When data movement is involved, record mapping, historical information and validation must be discussed explicitly.
The modernization plan should identify which system is authoritative during the transition and how users will know where to work. Retirement is a separate decision that follows validation, not an automatic consequence of launching a new page.
Prove one workflow before expanding
A bounded process gives stakeholders a way to check the new experience against real work. Forms, permissions, notifications and reporting should be accepted together rather than treated as unrelated deliverables.
W.I.S.E. can combine SharePoint, Power Apps and automation where appropriate, while documenting the dependencies and limits of the selected approach.
Plan for the system after launch
The new solution needs an owner, administrator guidance and a route for improvements. Training and lifecycle controls help prevent the next generation of undocumented workarounds.
Migration tooling, platform transitions, retention requirements and third-party integrations are not assumed to be included. They are reviewed and scoped according to the environment and the data involved.
Potential deliverables
The final scope is agreed before delivery. Depending on the engagement, it can include:
- Retain, improve, rebuild or retire assessment
- Future-state process and solution design
- Phased transition and validation plan
- Handover, adoption and sustainment guidance
Common questions
Do we have to replace all our spreadsheets?
No. The question is which processes need shared ownership, controlled status, permissions or more reliable reporting. Some spreadsheets may remain appropriate.
Does modernization include a tenant migration?
Not automatically. Tenant or content migration requirements must be assessed separately, including access, tooling, data validation and transition risk.
Can a new system run alongside the old one during testing?
A controlled parallel-validation period can be considered. The plan must make the authoritative system and retirement criteria explicit.
